Representatives with FTUC executives at the Policy discussion for youth, women and migrant wages
The FTUC conducted the first round of consultations on wages policy for different sectors including the migrant workers. Young workers and women are highly vulnerable to wage stagnation and need wage increments to meet the high inflation rates. Similarly migrant workers also need to be empowered on their rights as they are believed to be offered lower than market rates .
With assistance from the ILO the FTUC will continue consolations in other parts of the country. A national campaign for migrant workers will be launched at the end of next month to draw attention to the issues faced by workers brought in from overseas countries.
