Meeting with NUHCTIE organisers

The FTUC has embarked on an intensive campaign to organise  workers that arrive to work in Fiji from overseas countries. This is in light of the many issues raised by the migrant workers during their employment in Fiji.

Through assistance provided by the International Labour Organization organisers met to discuss the :

• challenges faced in organising migrant workers
• challenges faced by migrant workers
• sectors and workplaces migrant workers are being brought in for
• strategies to organize the migrant workers

The discussion also included the type of awareness and outreach trainings that need to be organized to encourage union membership.  The meetings will also be held with other organizers from various sectors to expand the campaign.
