Update from FFATU on Fiji Airways Reinstatement

The Fiji Flight Attendants Trade Union (FFATU), President, Mr. Josaia Mcgowan has advised that FFATU had begun its direct discussions with the Fiji Airways .

The first meeting occurred yesterday, Thursday, 2nd March, 2023  with the airline represented by it’s CEO Mr. Andre Viljoen and Chief People Officer ( read GMHR ) Mr. Ravinesh Krishna

“While not talking reinstatement strictly, we are talking which is a good first step, We have another meeting tomorrow, Friday, 3rd March, 2023 to exchange information .” Mr Josaia stated.

Mr. Josaia also stated that “Our concern remains with the fact that Fiji Airways is leaning on leeway given to it by our line minister to fine tune “rehiring”, and they as a commercial entity should be able to do their own thing etc . A copy of his press statement was given to us at the meeting”.

“A clear directive to the company has not been forthcoming, instead it remains contradictory,” Mr. Josaia Mcgowan further added.
