The FTUC National Secretary Mr Felix Anthony and the Executive Officer, Programme and Administration, Ms Jotika Sharma met with the Senior Programme Officer, ILO, Ms Sukarfa Katafono on Wednesday to discuss possible activities for FTUC to address some challenges workers are facing during this pandemic.
The ILO agreed to support the FTUC to develop new strategies to combat some of the key issues that unions and workers are experiencing at the workplace. One of the main outcomes of this activity is to promote workplace relations and encourage organizing and recruitment during these times which remains the core business of unions. The FTUC also will conduct a survey to find out the impact of compulsory vaccination for workers amongst its affiliates. Many of the FTUC affiliates and their members have been affected by COVID measures taken by employers and the government.
As one of the three constituents of the ILO, FTUC counts on technical and financial support to build the capacities of unions and their members.
